Jordanian Army. They are part of the mine clearing efforts. They have years of experience in clearing mines. This machine is their primary area clearing weapon. It's made by the British!

This is a unique trailer that is hauled BEHIND the HEMTT truck. It makes for a long vehicle/trailer combination. It's real M number is the M989A1.

The HiMob (or high mobility) family of trailers is replacing the M101 family of trailers. In time we'll see chassis versions for generators and power units, as well as trailers. The M101A2 shown was the next to the last. There is a M101A3. I'm showing a HiMob with a power unit on it.

The light set trailer is my idea of something "cute". It's just like the portable lights you see on the interstate during construction time, just with a military configuration and paint job.

The M1082 is part of the new trailers to support the FMTV program. The M1082 (shown) goes behind the LMTVs (the replacement for the deuce), and the M1095 (not shown) goes behind the MTV (the replacement for the 5 tons). The M1082 is essentially the bed of the LMTV with a trailer tongue. Same size, and holds 2 1/2Ts. Similarly, the M1095 has two rear axles just like the MTV, and holds 5 tons! As you can see from the picture, the LMTV and trailer make for a long vehicle. The MTV is even longer. Sadly, they seem very underpowered under a full load.

The M1102 is one of the two cargo replacements for the M101. The M1102 is a 1 1/4t trailer like the M101, but you can see all sorts of refinements to include tie downs in the bed of the trailer. To be able to pull the heavier trailers, the older HMMWVs have to get their bumpers modified, and I included some pics of the modification. The newer HMMWVs come with a bumper to pull the new trailers.

The M1112 is the new water buffalo. It still holds only 400 gallons, but the lower profile and wider stance is supposed to decrease the ability to flip over. Course I don't recall water buffalos flipping over being a huge problem. Notice the accommodation to weaker male and female soldiers - the front "landing" wheel has a hand crank to lower and raise it!

The mountains between Kandahar Air Field (where I am stationed) and Kandahar City (original home and base of the Taliban). They are also the home of numerous artillery, mortar and rocket tubes that shoot at us almost on a daily basis.

A HMMWV that ran over and caused a land mine to go off. This particular HMMWV is the M1114, which is the heaviest armored HMMWV made to date. It weighs in at almost 5 short tons empty (9800 pounds) and has a max weight of over 6 short tons (12100 pounds) when combat loaded.
Although originally intended for MPs and Cavalry Scouts, not enough have been fielded to date, and with the exception of the 82nd Airborne, the Cavalry has been given the priority. The 82nd MPs have them, and this damaged vehicle is one of theirs.
Note the exterior damage to the soft pieces. The basic aluminum skin took a beating, as did the tires and wheels. Note also the interior. No punctures. No tears. No shrapnel to the interior. The door handles on the exterior did blow off, which is why you see the right rear door held shut with a cargo strap.
Interesting to note is the Air Conditioning unit built in. It's standard from the factory!

This vehicle is one of those HMMWVs that really doesn't exist, to do missions that we don't talk about, driven by units and people that you never heard of!
Note all the upgrades and additions that make this a real war-fighter. The vehicle starts with the new M1113 chassis. The M1113 HMMWV has a gross vehicle weight of 11,500 lbs. It has a turbocharged 190 hp engine provides excellent mobility.
Lots of built in storage space for ammo, fuel and water. This one was made for going out for a while and not coming back until you are done! As a former Commander, I really appreciate the speedo on the passenger side! Keeps the driver honest and aids in navigation.
Looks like I'll be coming back in mid February now. Best part of this deployment for me is that I will be able to afford that WC I always wanted!
